Andrea Hurtado-Mejia

Ms. Hurtado has over 25 years business life cycle experience, from capture, to planning, execution and integrating lessons. She has led and supported dozens of capture and proposal efforts for every agency of the federal government, including the DHS, DoD, DOD, and DoJ, DoE, as well as OCONUS opportunities in Europe and the Middle East. Previously with SAIC, Ms. Hurtado brings 15 years’ experience supporting defense-security programs for various clients, including the US Army Knowledge Management Office; the Port Authority of New York New Jersey; the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority; the Army, Corps of Engineers; the Army, Armament, Research, Development and Engineering; the Office of the Secretary of Defense; the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies; the National Defense University; and the Army War College. More recently, she served as the VP of BD for Akal Group of Companies where she stood up a new BD organization and institutionalized BD best practices in record time.
Ms. Hurtado has a Masters from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Middle East Studies and Arabic. She earned her BA in International Studies and Arabic from the Ohio State University. She has lived, worked or studied in 11 Arabic countries and Turkey. Ms. Hurtado is a native of Colombia, is fluent in Spanish and English, proficient in Arabic, and beginner in French and Turkish.
Her professional certifications include PMP, Six Sigma Green Belt, and ITIL v3 Foundations. Ms. Hurtado has also successfully led organizations through CMMI ML5 appraisals. She is a recipient of SAIC’s prestigious annual Achievement Award in Corporate Responsibility for her establishment of various Multicultural Employee Resource Groups.
